About our speakers

Helle Terkildsen Maindal is Professor of Health Promotion at the Department of Public Health, Aarhus University, Denmark, and Honorary Professor at the Institute for Health Transformation, Deakin University.

Helle is involved in national and international studies. Her main research interest is building capacity for health promotion in critical life transitions. She works on developing and evaluating health promotion and preventive interventions, primarily with a focus on health literacy and health equity.

Maiken Meldgaard is a PhD Fellow at with the Department of Public Health, Aarhus University, Denmark, and the Institute for Health Transformation, Deakin University.

The focus of Maiken’s PhD project is on the intersection between pregnant women’s health literacy and organisational health literacy responsiveness within antenatal care. Her work contributes to a growing field of public health research focused on embedding organisational health literacy responsiveness within healthcare systems to better serve diverse and vulnerable populations.
